I've just finished reading Medici Money by Tim Parks. It's a wonderful read and makes the story of the infamous Italian banking family in the 15th Century seem surprising current. It was written before the banking collapse but is eerily prescient. Much of the book is about the relationship between art and money and power, and sadly the only force capable of breaking the link between these three elements seems to be fundamentalism (just round the 15th Century corner). Is this what we face?
